A guy on one of my Facebook car groups has listed !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Overall, it doesn’t look too bad, but definitely needs some love, but I think his price of $4750 reflects that.
It’s a non-turbo that received a 3S-GTE swap and is a five-speed manual. A few things aren’t working - AC, ABS and airbags. As this would just be an extra/fun/project car for me, there wouldn’t be any urgent need to get various issues addressed.
I know NPoCP rule numero uno says not to buy someone else’s project, but I’ve always loved these cars and this one is pretty reasonably priced.
So, fellow Oppos, talk to me about the MR2 and what sort of price would make this old girl a NP, if any.

This is pretty NP. ABS and airbags are whatever (is early 90s ABS even any good? If you crash you’ll be going backwards anyway), but these came with 3SGTEs, so it’s not a project-car style swap. It’s an engine the car was designed to come with. The only concern for me is that rocker panel rust spot that wasn’t finished. The big question to me is why wasn’t it? It seems like this person knows the car and has owned it for a few years after the swap, so did he find more somewhere that made him rethink if this was the right car?

The rust is worrisome - for how I’d use it, the AC and airbags aren’t much of a concern, but the ABS is nice. Could be a solenoid or something basic, but then, why wasn’t it fixed?
I think it might be worth a trip to go see it, if nothing else. He’s about an hour away from me.

Definitely worth the trip. FWIW, with the way things like AC are described as having been not hooked up, I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what it is.
